About Us

Balaklava Primary has been an integral part of Balaklava and its surrounding communities for over 130 years. The school is set in beautiful, well cared for grounds with lots of space for children to participate and play. We offer a broad, balanced curriculum responsive to the individual learning needs of students, including children with special needs and talents. Our students engage in quality literacy and numeracy programs. Music, Science and French are three of our specialist areas. Student Voice is highly valued and our students have many opportunities to be involved in a range of student leadership and decision making processes. Another of our strengths lies in our experienced staff who keep their knowledge and skills up to date and are dedicated to maximising all student’s learning.

Situated next door to Balaklava High School and down the road from the Balaklava Community Children’s Centre (BCCC), Balaklava Primary School has a close relationship with both sites and together we have developed strong transition programs from preschool or to secondary education to help children feel safe and happy.

Balaklava Primary School manages 11 buses to transport our students living outside a 5-kilometre radius from the school. We are proudly servicing Reception to Year 12 students from farms and communities including Avon, Balaklava, Beaufort, Bowmans, Halbury, Hoyleton, Long Plains, Nantawarra, Pinery, Pt Parham, Thompson’s Beach, Whitwarta, and Wild Horse Plains. Our buses also transport children to the BCCC Out of School Hours Care (OSHC).

Please feel free to browse our website (www.balakr7.sa.edu.au) for more information about our school or children or contact us directly as our staff are happy to accommodate both general enquiries and requests for school tours.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs Dianna Jarman
Principal
