Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Balaklava Primary School

Balaklava Primary School has proudly served the Balaklava community and surrounding districts for over 130 years. Nestled in beautiful, well-maintained grounds, our school provides spacious, safe, and engaging environments for children to learn, play and thrive.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to meet the needs of all learners. Guided by our vision—Every learner engaged, stretched, and achieving—we are committed to helping every student develop. Our school motto, Believe, Participate, Succeed, is underpinned by the shared expectations that all members of our community are safe, kind, and strive to be their best.

Our students benefit from high-quality literacy and numeracy programs, alongside specialist learning in Music, Science, and Auslan. Student voice is a valued part of our School, with opportunities for leadership and meaningful participation across all year levels.

Our dedicated staff bring a wealth of experience and are committed to ongoing professional growth. They work in partnership with families to support every child’s success—academically, socially and emotionally.

Located next to Balaklava High School and just a short walk from the Balaklava Community Children’s Centre (BCCC), we have strong partnerships with both sites. Together, we deliver effective and supportive transition programs—from preschool into primary, and from primary into secondary—helping children feel confident and connected at every stage.

We also coordinate 11 school bus routes for students living beyond a 5-kilometre radius, servicing communities including Avon, Balaklava, Beaufort, Bowmans, Halbury, Hoyleton, Long Plains, Nantawarra, Pinery, Port Parham, Thompson Beach, Whitwarta, and Wild Horse Plains. Our buses also support access to Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) at BCCC.

We invite you to explore our website (www.balakr7.sa.edu.au) to learn more about our school. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or to arrange a school tour. Our friendly staff are always happy to help.

Warm regards,
Mrs Dianna Jarman
